1st Surgery Clinic's staff activities develop on several levels:

- preparation of the III and IV grades students in Romanian and English language, bioengineering and the college of medical assistants;
- continuous preparation of the residents, specialists and senior doctors through local or remote post-universitary courses
- scientific research in various medical fields, the last themes reffering to laparoscopic surgery and the cancer of the digestive tube;
- guidance of some surgical sections from Moldavia (Suceava, Vaslui).


The clinic organizes 10 post-universitary courses (in laparoscopic surgery, up-to-dates in the pathology and therapeutics of the abdominal wall, the actual treatment of the gastro-esophagean reflux, cancers of the eso-gastric jonction, colo-rectal cancers, breast cancers, post-caustic esophagean stenosis, small surgery elements for family doctors).

In 2003 the clinic organized The Fourth Romanian Congress of Laparoscopic Surgery.

This powerful programme concentrated on new technology and new techniques to the practicing laparoscopic surgeon. Ten topics have been emphasized in all facets at this outstanding scientific event.

The programme emphasized the current advances in laparoscopy. With over 10 speakers from around the world sharing their experience and expertise on laparoscopy, research and development, the event was a major success.

The Clinic staff has a rich scientific activity proved by the numerous editorial appearances (monographs, text-books, scientific papers in Romanian and Foreign specialty magazines).
