Abstract:

The authors studied the role of the frozen section in digestive surgery. It was a restrospective study of 344 frozen sections made in the last 10 years.

The right diagnoses rate was 97.7% with 2% rate of false negative and 0.3% rate of false positive results. In 11% from all the cases the surgical technique was modified by the results of frozen section exam.

When the result of the frozen section shows the malignant invasion of a resection edge, new re-resections were necessary till health tissue is present to the frozen section exam.

We also present the difficulties of the histological exam of the frozen section for splenic, and lymph nodes diseases, esspecially in case of lymphoma.
