Abstract:

The positive expression of AMACR in the prostatic cells in morphological context support malignant diagnostic. Aim: The purpose of our study was the evaluation intensity of AMACR expression in prostatic glands benign, high grade prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia, atypical adenomatous hyperplasia and prostatic adenocarcinoma. Material and Methods: The study was realized on 56 cases analysed in Pathology Laboratory of Emergency County Hospital Focşani, Romania. Results: The AMACR expression was positive 4% in benign glands, 55% in high grade prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia, 8% in atypical adenomatous hyperplasia and 100% in prostatic adenocarcinoma. Conclusion: The AMACR expression must be correlation with morphological evaluation and this specificity increase the security of positive diagnostic. The positive expression of AMACR supports malignant diagnostic only for the phenotype P63-/AMACR+.

KEY WORDS: AMACR, HIGH GRADE PROSTATIC INTRAEPITHELIAL NEOPLASIA, ATYPICAL ADENOMATOUS HYPERPLASIA, PROSTATIC ADENOCARCINOMA.
