Abstract:

The gastric cancer is usually found in the older population and is associated, in long-term follow-up, with two types of anaemia: microcytic and macrocytic. We present the case of a 21 year-old women with corporeal gastric cancer treated by total gastrectomy, who further develops hemolytic anaemia, which normalize after therapy. Immediately after chemotherapy, in short-term follow-up, she develops macrocytic anaemia, corrected by vitamin B12  treatment. Another interesting founding is the discordance between the macroscopic aspect of the surgical resection piece (duodenal polyps) and histopatologic aspect (chronic inflammation).
